One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManus

5.0

Finally I picked up an amazing book.

I knew I’d enjoy this book because I enjoyed the first one so much, but oh wow this book is even better than the original. I was so worried it’d be another murder investigation and “bringing the gang back together” or worse “One of us is Lying Jr.” featuring all the side characters from the first novel in the same situation. But it avoided that trope (while still using some side characters) but flushed them out and put just as much love and care into their characterization and growth as the originals. Plus the new characters were very dynamic and magnetic. I was a huge fan own how we caught up with the old characters but the focus wasn’t really on them. It was a well executed sequel.

As for the plot, there were some things not tied up and a pretty abrupt end, but all things considered I think Karen McManus has become one of my preferred authors.
