An easy read which I managed to finish quickly, despite the length. Many parts were witty and the chapters around her rare disease were the most interesting.

For me though, there were far too many self-deprecating, fatphobic remarks to enjoy it fully - literally peppered throughout the book, the protagonist can’t even say the word ‘belly’ because she’s ashamed of gaining a bit of weight. I thought this might be leading to a pivotal moment at the end where she decides to accept herself, but no - seems like these were in here to make 40-year-old women feel ashamed about eating carbs or being a little on the heavier side.

Overall, fine - interesting concepts but not for me.
