You and Me on Vacation by Emily Henry
5.0
I don’t know what Emily Henry put in this book, but I could not put it down and didn’t want it to end at the same time.
Poppy was the confused millennial we all feel like most of the time and I related to her more than I thought I would. Being stuck in a rut in your dream job after reaching all your goal whilst simultaneously suffering from burnout? Yeah I feel you girl.
Alex Nilsen was delightfully awkward in such an endearing way that it was so hard not to fall in love with him. His fear of losing someone and letting the one person he loves more than anything all the way in, was incredibly relatable too.
Though it was frustrating how the Palm Springs trip ended, it was also incredibly realistic and that was what made this a 5 star for me. There was no miscommunication to mess things up, just pure, raw, painful honesty between the two of them that lead to both of them growing (more Poppy than Alex I may add though).
It’s made me want to binge read all of Emily Henry’s books now, but also savour them because the characters feel so relatable. That and I’m also scared to collect even more book boyfriends than I already have. It’s becoming unmanageable at this point!
