Heartsong? More like heartache, amiright? Packpackpack? More like painpainpain!
I make no apologies for my terrible jokes, Heartsong has scrambled my brain and I still feel weak and upset just thinking about it.
This book had me sobbing so hard I thought I might throw up ✌️ After Ravensong, I figured my heart had been emotionally damaged to the point of not feeling anything because that one didn't destroy me to the same extent Wolfsong did (still loved it though!) Yeah I was wrong.
The first part of Heartsong felt ominous and confusing and just off somehow. Which was the entire point: to make me anxious and uncomfortable and lost. Just like Robbie once he starts figuring out something's wrong.
His story reminded me somewhat of Bucky Barnes's; being kidnapped, brainwashed, and used as a tool by someone whose values very much oppose his own. Being turned into a weapon against those he loves the most but they're also the only ones who have a chance of bringing him back though it won't be an easy road. I love and hurt for these poor boys.
Honestly, this book just hurt. A lot. I obviously laughed heaps, too, because Klune has this way of making you cry one page and then snort laugh the next, I'm in awe of him.
I love Robbie, and I love Kelly, and I love the pack. I'm a little sad we didn't get more Kelly tbh because the two spent so much time apart and Robbie didn't know him for a long time. But wow, still absolutely adored this book.
Carter is my favourite (well him and Ox) so I'm simultaneously excited and terrified to read Brothersong
