Reading this book feels like curling up with a warm cup of coffee on a Saturday morning next to the people you love the most. At the surface, Legends and Lattes is about an orcish woman named Viv retiring from adventuring to open a coffee shop (with a few secrets under her sleeve). The book walks you through every step that she takes to find the right location, restore the building from disrepair, and work her way toward her coffee shop dreams. By all means, this book should be boring, but it's not at all!! I was riveted by every turn she took. New and fun characters popped in and wedged their way into my heart one by one and made me want to stay in this world and dream along with Viv. There's just enough intrigue to keep you on your toes (Viv's secret, a local gang problem that Viv has to somehow deal with, a mysterious figure from her past), and plenty of warm and cozy moments to keep you coming back for more. The story ended absolutely wonderfully! It made me emotional with joy for Viv and her friends, and a little sad that there wasn't more to the book. The audiobook was narrated by the author, Travis Baldree, and he is very talented! I recommend the audiobook just as much.
I read this book because a friend told me it was a 'must read', and I agree. If you read nothing else next year, please read this book.
