"No one in New York cared about the vintage of the sadness tucked behind her eyes and in the small corners of her smiles."
It's been five years since Feyi Adekola lost the love of her life in a tragic accident, and she's still struggling. She's a passionate artist living in New York, living with her best friend, and has channeled all of her grief and sadness into her artwork.
Feyi thinks she might be ready to start dating again, and when the perfect man enters her life, she believes she may be ready to take the leap, only to fall for someone else who is completely forbidden to her. Is she willing to risk everything for a second chance at love?
Akwaeke Emezi's words and the narration by Bahni Turpin were like a beautiful assault on your senses. You could hear the music, taste the Michelin star meals, and picture the luscious tropical setting. It was perfect, the passion, the drama, the grief; I can't recommend this one enough!
