The Dutch House by Ann Patchett

4.0

I listened to the audiobook performed by Tom Hanks.
It feels like Danny and Maeve are my own children now. The novel is set over the course of five decades, from their childhood and well into their fifties, and you see their thoughts and emotions all throughout these years.
It's a beautiful novel about the strength of these two siblings' relationship, and the weakness of all their other relationships (familial or otherwise).
The entire story revolved around the Dutch house, a house their father bought around the time they suddenly went from poverty to extravagancy. The two kids are kicked out of the house by their stepmother, and they keep coming back to it over the years to sort out their feelings.
It's just beautiful man, just read it.
