When I started this book, I was certain it would fall miles short of the hype surrounding it. I was utterly wrong. It was funny, fast paced, and so engaging. It kept me going back for more. I appreciated that the main characters were colleged aged- I’m so tired of 12 to 16 year olds Saving the world. The characters had actual problem solving skills and I never had to scream at them for making unbelievably stupid decisions because the plot narrated it. Falling into this book felt the way I remembered falling into Harry Potter or Percy Jackson felt as a kid. I’ve just finished it and im already debating starting to read it again. Cannot wait for book 2.
Some good spice too but you have to be PATIENT. This is a fantasy with romance not a romantasy.
Also can we talk about the representation in this book- chronic illness/pain, POC, a Deaf sign language user, and LGBTQ+. I think more of the main characters could be representative but this book goes far behind most fantasy books.
