Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan
5.0
Fiftieth book of the year, and I’m so glad this was my final one. What a guy Furlong is, he really really warmed my heart. Paying it forward and understanding your roots is so important. And the setting of this short story resonates so much with our current circumstances in the UK, especially with Christmas just around the corner. Christmastime is often described as a time of giving and love, and I think Furlong really embodied this.
I never knew about the Magdalen laundries until reading this. Definitely need to read more Irish fiction and learn more about Irish history. Thanks for being my gateway, Claire Keegan!!!
