Meet Me at the Museum by Anne Youngson
4.0
Meet Me at the Museum, written by 73 year old Anne Youngson, is a sweet and thoughtful epistolary* novel which tells the story of an unexpected connection between two people made across the sea.
It begins when Tina (a grandmother who lives on a working farm in England who has recently lost her best friend) writes a letter to a museum in Denmark about a memory from her childhood which Anders (a museum curator who has recently lost his wife and lives a very routine life) very quickly responds to.
This random correspondence sparks a connection between the two of them which takes us, the reader, on an emotional journey through their very different lives. They talk of their nows, their hopes and wishes; of their thoughts on what could have been, their reflections on regrets from their pasts. I enjoyed this moving novel, Tina and Ander’s different writing styles were well done I thought, and at 200 pages, was a nice length fitting for the story.
*I only learned today what this means! for those like me who might not know, it means ‘in the form of letters’.
