A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

5.0

Patrick Ness was entrusted to write this original story idea & outline, which is by the wonderful author Siobhan Dowd, after her untimely death from cancer. A masterful collaboration including stunning illustrations by Jim Kay who "used everything from beetles to breadboards to create interesting marks and textures." A dark tale with a heartbreaking story within a story. To explain this book would give away too much of the story. It's about grief, loss, and possibly hope. Everyone should read this.

It has also been shortlisted for the 2012 CILIP Carnegie Medal.
