Carley Fortune keeps writing the same book. And unfortunately, this time it really felt a bit monotonous.

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Lucy heads to Prince Edward Island to visit her best friend’s childhood home. There, she meets Felix. Their first meeting, she doesn’t know he’s her best friends brother. But the second and third and fourth visits, they can’t help the pull to one another.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: So I want to just put it out there that Carley Fortune is a great writer. I’ve liked her other books, and I liked this book well enough. If no one’s ever read her stuff, they’d pick up this book and they’d think it was great.

But it just felt the exact same as her first two. Yes, the plots were different enough. But the then-and-now format, the summer topic, the end results. They all feel the same. And I’m so, so ready for something else from her.

I liked the story here. Prince Edward Island seemed cool, and the picture Carley Fortune painted of it made me want to go eat oysters and enjoy the salt air. And the characters were easy to root for. 

But I think I’m going to take a pause on reading her writing until she puts something different out.
