This had potential but I think was harmed but the short length of the book. As a dystopian book, the author didn't take enough time to flesh out the world, and it really took away from the point. All I could figure out was that the book took place in a time like the wild west, but after cars. What happened to cars? No idea. Why did the world devolve back to the wild west? Also no idea.
The concept of a group of packhorse librarians delivering illegal materials, harboring criminals and taking them to safe havens, and trying to thwart the fascist government at every turn, is one that sounds so easy to get behind. And it did have bits and pieces; I really enjoyed the characters, the relationships that developed and the banter that ensured, and the action scenes were all exciting and fun. Unfortunately, as an overall piece of work, it was simply too shoddily executed.
