I just can’t stop reading books about Scotland. I picked this one up at the library and read it after our return from Scotland. In this book, an American doctor, Emilia McRoy, leaves her life in the US behind to begin a new life as the doctor and coroner on an island in Scotland. Once there she encounters a range of interesting characters, from the Laird and Constable to the pub owners’ daughter to the brother and sister who help keep her practice and medical practice running. She also finds a dead body and encounters obstacles in trying to determine who murdered the victim. Some of the plot twists were a bit stilted or predictable but this is a solid cozy mystery in one of my favorite locations.
