Kill Creek by Scott Thomas
5.0
HELL YES. I am constantly on the lookout for a spooky haunted house novel with a good story. Kill Creek delivered, and this is a new favorite book.
Kill Creek answers just enough questions to make you happy, but gives you just enough mysteries to keep you invested. This is a tough balance to maintain, and Scott Thomas handled it successfully.
I LOVED the characters. There are 4 authors who all write different types of horror, a social media / internet mogul (not entirely sure what to call him, but that sounds good enough for now) who plans the stay at the house, and a photographer to make sure everything is documented. TC Moore (one of the authors) was my favorite. She reminded me of Miriam Black IF Miriam could hold down a job & residence. The four authors are fairly multi-layered, and I loved hearing their stories.
This book has some genuinely creepy parts. I was reading this book tonight while it was dark and pouring rain outside, and I got a little spooked. It was perfect, and I'm always happy to be creeped out be a good horror novel.
The ending gave me chills. I really like how everything wrapped up, and I feel like that can be rare in haunted house novels.
I hope Scott Thomas writes more horror novels because I adored this book. Go read it now!
