NYPD Red 2 by Marshall Karp, James Patterson
3.0
NYPD Red 2- the book that just kept on giving. A well worthy 3.5*.
I love James Patterson and enjoyed the progression from NYPD Red to NYPD Red 2.
Plot
The plot was so much stronger in this one. The red herrings were a masterpiece and had me confused right until the end. I guessed the plot on the first book and so in comparison this plot was miles better. I loved the focus with the idea of the vigilante where you can’t hate them because they are creating the justice that families cannot receive from the justice system. However, Patterson highlights the effects of the heroes of vigilantes and how they can attack innocent people as well and so really are the same as murderers. This book really enlightened me on this matter and so I really enjoyed it.
Characters
Damn. In comparison to the other Patterson books, the characters are so much weaker in this book. I can’t increase the ratings because of the importance of the characters as a component in the book. Detective Jordan’s messed up love life really puts me off the book and distracts me from the exciting and interesting plot. He loves his ex but he is with the psychologist- god, make your mind up.

I really enjoyed this book but the characters are too weak for it to be a high class thriller (like Private).
