The Goal by Elle Kennedy
5.0
"We all hurt. We all love. We're the same. And your past, who you live with, where you came from, it doesn't have to matter. You're creating your own future, and I want to see where the road forward takes you."
Adlkasjldkj I love this series so so so much. This Off-Campus series is easily my favorite new adult romance series and Elle Kennedy is my spirit animal. I love her writing style so much and her characters are so realistic and amazing and I'm going to miss the character sin this series so much! (Thank GOD there is going to be a spin-off series but STILL.)
This book follows John Tucker (who might be my new favorite guy in the series??) and Sabrina James. John Tucker is the fourth and final room mate from the group of friends Garrett, Logan, and Dean and he's a hockey player in his senior year of college. Sabrina James used to have a thing with Dean, Tucker's room mate and now she has this thing against hockey players, but one night she meets Tucker at a bar and they decide to have a one night thing, and (SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE SCORE) she ends up getting pregnant with his baby. I guess I understand why some people are saying they don't like Sabrina, but I actually enjoyed her as a main character. It was refreshing to read about a girl who is so independent and driven and works two jobs and is going to Harvard for her law degree. Yeah she can be a bitch at times but so can I and so can everybody. I didn't care for the way she took so long to figure out how she was feeling but for a girl like her it is pretty realistic for her to be so afraid of commitment.
John Tucker just might be my favorite guy in this series. I mean DAMN he is so charming and patient and sweet and he has a beard and he's from Texas and his southern accent and the way he calls her darlin' oh my god I was SWOONING over him. He's just so incredibly kind and sensitive and the way he handled her getting pregnant and getting thrown into fatherhood at twenty two was just so beautiful. He made this entire book for me honestly, I'm in love with his character. Sabrina lives with her nana and her step Dad and all of her scenes with them made me cringe. Her Mom took off and left her with her gross step Dad who is always making her cook for him and saying how sexy she is and making her feel uncomfortable. He is just so gross and I cringed every time she had to deal with him. I felt so bad for her home life and what she had to put up with, which is why I understood her as a character.
I love the way Tucker and Sabrina first meet in the bar, it was one of the funniest scenes for me, and the first time they have sex in Tucker's truck was one of the hottest sex scenes I've ever read. I'm not going to lie, I'm a huge sucker for stories that involve getting unexpectedly pregnant and then watching a couple fall in love as they deal with the pregnancy together. I LOVE IT. So it's no surprise that I loved this book so much. Getting to see Tucker and Sabrina adapt to her pregnancy and learning how to be parents together was CUTE SHIT and it added so much depth to this story. I feel like this story was a lot deeper than the previous three books because of the whole pregnancy and baby thing.I LOVE the fact that they named the baby James Tucker because they couldn't decide whether the baby should get his last name or hers so they named their daughter James because of her last name and they call her Jamie. SO FUCKING CUTE I LOVE IT. Also all the scenes describing Tucker holding their daughter while he was shirtless, like ugh fucking swoon. I kind of got annoyed with Tucker's Mom at the end. I get that she is trying to protect her son and I would do the same, but she took it too far and was a bit over the top in my opinion. I wouldn't have been able to control my anger as well as Sabrina did.
"You're the only one for me. My sun rises and sets on your smile. My heart beats because yours does."
Overall, I love the way this series concluded. I love getting to see where Garrett, Logan, and Dean all ended up as well. I love this group of fictional character so much I'm going to MISS this series so much. Elle Kennedy is seriously one of my favorite authors ever. I'm hoping to read another one of her series soon because I love her writing so much. This book is everything I could have asked for and more and I loved it so much. I think either this book or [b:The Deal|24920901|The Deal (Off-Campus, #1)|Elle Kennedy|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1431282052s/24920901.jpg|44100599] are my favorites in this series.
