I really liked the fact that this was a completely normal late 1800's/early 1900's setting that just happened to have sirens. Nothing else magical or fantastical just a murder happening somewhere that happens to have sirens. I thought the plotline was well done, and I liked how the main characters were developed, as well as the side characters having their own unique personalities. My only big problem was the lack of physical description for the characters. I felt like I had very little idea what most of them looked like, as well as the appearance of the island itself.
