I really liked this book! Coming into it, I was a little worried that I wouldn't understand everything, because I'd never read a Dresden Files book in my life and this is, well, the sixth in the series. Surprisingly, though, I never felt like that was the case. Everything that was relevant to the story was explained, and I was able to comprehend the context and backstory for things that weren't -- plus, some of the things that weren't explained just made me even more curious to read the other books, which is always a good thing.
Overall, I loved the magic system, and the way it - and various supernatural entities - worked. The White Court was an especially interesting take on vampires, and I'd love to explore it more. Lara is also one of my favourite characters, so there's that.
Another thing I loved was the way it was written. It felt like a genuine first-person perspective, and I was literally Harry while I was reading. He's a very fun protagonist, and while he does have some (major) flaws, like his irritating "chilavry", I thought those only added to his well-roundedness. Also, he has really good one-liners, so I have to love him for that.
Overall, I did enjoy this book, and I'm excited to continue the series!
