Godly Heathens by H.E. Edgmon
4.0
3.5 stars
I can’t picture things in my head so I’m strictly a realistic contemporary fiction person. In other words, I’m scared of fantasy. Godly Heathens though had such an irresistible cover that I had to give it a chance. For a YA book, I was (pleasantly) surprised by the grittiness and relationship aspects. The characters were deeply flawed but compelling and diverse. Things did tend to get confusing and I often couldn’t keep track of who was good/bad/in danger of being killed/flawed but loved/etc etc, but the writing style and original characters kept me going. Overall, I really loved this, and hey, you got me with that cliffhanger.
