All the books based in the world of Midkemia have been very engaging and enjoyable to read and this is no exception.
The opening of this novel had me checking if I had opened the right book and was a nice call back to where this all began.
The characters are mostly ones previously seen in other novels, so their personalities and mannerisms are familiar, while the new characters are introduced in a very natural way.
There are many threads to the storyline, which is quite an involved plot with interweaving connections between the various threads, though these can be very subtle and therefore not noticed until much later.
This is a rich world with plenty of interesting characters and a story that will keep you turning pages to see what happens next, as will the epilogue setting up the next book.
