adventurous dark emotional medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? Plot
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated
I managed to get through this book so much quicker. Probably because it has some of my favourite parts. We get to know more of Wei Wuxian pre-resurection and what has lead him on such a different path, get to see more of the relationship between Wei Wuxian and his brother Jiang Cheng and we finally get to meet their sister Jiang Yanli. But we also are starting to get to some of the truly tragic parts of the storyline
(though I was surprised to see that actually the real tragedy with the Golden Core that happened was skipped over and will only be revealed much later I guess)
. The romance is amping up now too. Lan Wangji is truly a romantic hero and it's fun to see Wei Wuxian fawning over him so much. And how even Lan Xichen knows what's up.
The part with child Wei Wuxian when he first settles at Lotus Pier literally made me cry. I half forgotten about it but also just I imagine this poor little kid scared to do anything wrong and scared of dogs and someone finally showing him some kindness and love. You know I really hope Lan Wangji will show him a lot of kindness and love because god knows Wei Wuxian has suffered enough in his life and did not get enough of love and kindness in his first life time.
Like he literally dreams of bulding a cottage house somewhere with Lan Wangji where they'd just work the field and relax so let him do that
