A wee bit like a Dahl short story, one that refuses to let you go for 200 unsparing pages, most of which contain at least one perfect sentence. It took me a wee while to tune into Nabakov’s prose (or maybe I was just hungover) but by the end we are into horrible horrible territory that meant I couldn’t put it down.
