Initially when I read this book I wondered "Why that title?" I didn't understand the relationship between the story and the title. After thinking about it I realized, it wasn't about the people Poppy and Alex met on their vacation, it's about the versions of themselves that they discovered as they visited new places and had new experiences. It's about discovering the best version of ourselves together with a person we not only love, but who motivates us to do our best.
One thing I liked was the friends-to-lovers romance, but it wasn't the typical case where you know each other from childhood and grow up to realize you've always loved each other. They made a change to the typical plot to develop in college.
I loved their friendship. Outside of the developed romance, their friendship was so beautiful and pure. If this book hadn't been about romance, the simple friendship would have been enough to make me fall in love.
Even with the difference in lifestyles, and the different way they grew up, I loved the development of romance and compatibility. They complemented each other even with their very different personalities.
Another aspect I enjoyed was reading about the reality that many of us experience after completing our goals and having that sense of emptiness. Once we have achieved our dream, it often happens that you don't know what to do with your life after you have completed what you wanted so much, and it can lead you to feel depressed or hopeless.
Another aspect that pleased me was that we got to read the story of their friendship throughout their vacation travels. Even with everything being narrated by Poppy, the chapters show us how that beautiful friendship built up and eventually transitioned into the romance we see in the present.
If you read books that alternate timelines, this book may not be for you, so that's one aspect to consider.
All in all, I liked this book and enjoyed reading it.
