Staying Out for the Summer by Mandy Baggot

funny hopeful lighthearted slow-paced
• Plot- or character-driven? A mix
• Strong character development? No
• Loveable characters? Yes
• Diverse cast of characters? No
• Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

There was nothing wrong with the book, it just felt a little... flat but I don't think I can put into words why. There was definitely some triggering of my COVID-19 trauma and the surrounding mental health issues/agoraphobia it gave me, but it wasn't just that - I didn't feel like I connected with the characters, didn't care about them or the story and that was a little disappointing because I usually LOVE Mandy Baggot's books
