Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

5.0

First line: "When I think of my wife, I always think of her head."

From the first line I was hooked, despite the weirdness of it... I just found it so original. Given that this has been a rough semester at school, I just really needed something to get my mind out of the drag it's falling into with all the studying. This was definitely a great book to use for this purpose.

I loved it, as you can probably tell from the five star rating I've given it. I was left thoroughly puzzled and so so intrigued by every twist and turn that appeared just when I was beginning to think that things were winding down and no further possibility was left to play out. As this is the first novel I've read by Gillian Flynn I am astounded at her intense and such a powerful and psychological writing. It was beautiful and terrifying and so over the top that I would find myself muttering "what a psycho, what an absolutely psychopath" and not being able to stop.

I don't really know what else there is to say, it is a breathtaking novel and I am ever so happy that my mom suggested I read it when she did.

Phenomenal read!
