Last to Die by Kate Brady

4.0

Absolutely amazing, thrilling and completely compelling! I loved reading Last to Die and I will definitely check out Kate Brady's other book, which I am too lazy to check up the title of.

But regardless, Last to Die is a story about Dani Cole a police officer stumbling upon a murderer of a woman she once rescued from the streets. The murder leads to something deeper, a huge interconnecting plot slowly revealed piece by piece - and to links with the past aka Mitch Sheridan. Part romantic thriller, and part detective story Last to Die is a perfect read with a bit of everything from hot romance to hard suspense.

I like the way Brady paces the novel - you're not hit with the truth all at once, but rather little parts of the plot are slowly revealed with a changing narrative among characters. You know who the killer is mid-book, and you find out the whole past/overall crime, but there's just more and more that gets revealed. Keeping you in suspense, piece by piece, Last to Die is a book I just couldn't put down at all.

Only thing I'd have to critique this book on is probably, characterization? I'm not very focused on Dani/Mitch actually - I wanted to know more about the crime etc. Though I feel the romance is a bit awkward sometimes and rushed, it's not really empowering the novel. The thriller part is. And that's why I love it!

Great book, highly recommended.
