Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by David Shafer
3.0
I really wanted to like Whiskey Tango Foxtrot more than I did. It has all the right ingredients, but they never come together. One of the blurbs says Shafer's writing is a mix of Chuck Palahniuk and William Gibson, and that's mostly right, except I think buy not sticking to one of those styles over the other the book suffers. Just when I wanted more Gibson-esque stuff the book veers into Palahniuk territory and vice-versa. Add to that a mediocre ending and what feels like the forced, cliche beginning of a love affair between two of the characters and it equals disappointment.
