I’m struggling with my opinion on The Maidens. I was so excited for this book after reading The Silent Patient. That was one of the best thrillers I’ve ever read. I suppose this one just didn’t quite live up to that. The first half of the book was super slow in my opinion. I felt like we were focusing a little too much on our main character Mariana’s issues. The ending was kind of the only thing that redeemed this book for me. I rounded down to a 3 star. But I would say this was about a 3.5 for me. I didn’t see the ending coming. I thought I had it kind of figured out. But I was wrong. My favorite part of this book though was the connection to The Silent Patient. So cool that these books take place in the same universe (for lack of a better explanation).
