Thicker than Blood by Mike Omer

3.0

This series is available on Kindle Unlimited, which is where I stumbled upon it. As a former Psychology and Criminal Justice student, I absolutely love books that center around a forensic psychologist (Also my love of Criminal Minds probably influences this as well). I read the first two books back in 2020, and just saw the third one was out so I finished it. Swipe for the synopsis for each book!

This series follows a profiler, Zoe Bentley, and a FBI Special Agent, Tatum Gray, as they chase a prolific serial killer, Rod Glover. Zoe has a history with Glover, as he was her childhood neighbor, and she reported him to the police, causing him to go on the run. Ever since then he has been obsessed with her, following her career closely.

All three books are quickly paced, but the second was definitely my favorite, as Zoe is torn between two cases, and Glover is playing cat-and-mouse with Zoe’s sister, upping the sense of urgency. The third one was definitely a nice conclusion, but it felt more choppy. Zoe was less on point and impressive as she had been in the first two books, and I felt like the banter between her and Tatum was way less present. Additionally, we saw less of the side characters that I loved, like Tatum’s grandpa and Zoe’s sister.

I’m sad to see these characters go, and would honestly love more crime solving from Zoe and Tatum. If you like crime procedural mysteries, I would definitely recommend, especially if you have Kindle Unlimited!
