I had an inexplicable hankering to read this book again, so I thought I'd go for it. I never wrote a review of it, so I admit this one is tinged by the second read bias. I will say, that the first time I read this book, it ABSOLUTELY WRECKED ME. And my sisters read it, and my father, and my aunt, and we all went to see the movie at the theater with one cousin who hadn't read it and she was SO ANNOYED with us because the weeping and the hand wringing started early....

This book is definitely on the list of novels I wish I could go back and read for the first time.
