it has been quite a while since a book was TRULY hard for me to put down - easily my favorite book i’ve read this year!!
this book checks all the boxes for me — modern day fantasy, BIPOC main characters, LGBTQIA+ representation, a mixed race romance, magical girls.... all wrapped up in a complex magical system that is closely tied with racism and slavery.

my only complaint is that I read this book now instead of waiting for all the books in the series to be done bc i am so EXCITED for book 2.
