Olivia and the Fairy Princesses by Ian Falconer
5.0
There is SO MUCH to LOVE about this book! Olivia rebels against the idea that every girl should want to be a pink, fluffy-dressed princess. She points out that there are other princesses all over the world (yay for diversity!) AND that there are other, admirable ways to live, such as being a nurse or a reporter (yay for girls with ambition!). The book also talks about how some of the boys even dressed up in pink and wanted to be princesses (yay for breaking gender stereotypes!). As with the other Olivia books, the dry humor is excellent. All around, this is a great read!
