Always Be My Duchess is a reimagining of Pretty Woman, and does a pretty good job overall. I liked the MMC Lysander. Nève, the FMC, is also an interesting character, although I personally would have preferred a dancer who was not virginal (Julia Roberts’s character was a sex worker full stop). The set-up is a little convoluted but such is the way of some Hollywood romcoms and some historical romances.
The momentum faltered at times but the second half definitely picked up. The sexy times were quite well done and a highlight. The group of female friends assembled is perhaps the best part of the book. Overall, it is an enjoyable story and a good series starter.
