The Nice House on the Lake (2021-) #1 by James Tynion IV

5.0

A group of friends are invited to a holiday retreat at a fantastically beautiful lake house. Once they arrive they learn they can’t leave. And even if they could, is there anything left to go back to?

Creepy…I love it.

Tynion is so good at this. This sinister, atmospheric horror.
How the story initially builds is dripping with suspense. I also love the usage of mixed media. Emails, text messages and Twitter/IG threads. If feels so current, present. It draws you in.

The artwork has a gritty/dreamy texture to it. Very similar to Tynion’s other active works, Something is Killing the Children and The Department of Truth.

I will definitely be continuing this series. I gotta know what comes next.
