listen I love the concept of this book, which is basically what if the dinosaurs from jurassic park were D&D as a concept instead. That's great! That's fun!! The execution was neither of those things.
The characters were pretty unbearable overall, character development was negligible, and sometimes people just said weirdly out of place shit. This author writes millennials in true GenX fashion, with all the really deeply cringe fantasy references you'd expect and just general ineptitude that was not fun. Also I cannot explain how this book feels like an episode of Once Upon a Time the way the plot is contrived and the characters behave. That really is the closest comparison somehow. If you liked OUAT (like season 4 OUAT too) maybe you'll like this like I did, which is to say, begrudgingly because I rewrote it in my head.
This book needed a better editor or honestly just a better author. I want this premise done better.
