Dear Jacob: A Mother's Journey of Hope by Patty Wetterling

3.0

I have such a hard time writing a mixed review for these kinds of books.

Nothing ever reflects upon the tragedy these families have been put through, but rather the editing, layout, and delivery of information.

There were easily two books here, it's an insensitive harsh truth that I wanted less of the asides and more focus on the crime itself and then the later trial (book one), while I sympathize with the saga of coping with a missing child I just couldn't connect and felt the book dragging along at a snail pace. (Book 2) I was hoping that after following a few podcasts and interviews , I would have the same connection with Patty W. That I felt for Sue Klebold in her memoir.. but I just didn't.

I did end up skimming the middle until I found the DNA and trial piece and continued on from there after slogging through the first half of the book.
