The Troop by Nick Cutter
5.0
ok....wow
I heard a few people mention this book before but I didn't know anything about it besides the fact that it contained body horror. And man did it really hit the mark!
The Troop follows a group of boy scouts as the go to a small island as part of a camping trip. On their first day a strange, starving man finds his way to their camp. A few pages later and the boys are fighting for their life against a horrifying parasite.
The set up for this story was hooking, the science behind it was tangible, the characters were striking and well-developed, and the descriptions were gross but oh-so amazing!
While some actions happened too fast for my liking, I don't think I can give enough praise for this book.
My favorite character was Ephraim, but I have to give Nick Cutter credit for writing Shelly so fantastically!
I would not go into this book if you can't handle blood, guts, worms, bug, any sort of body horror, animal abuse, etc.
If you think you can handle it, I would 100% urge you to pick up this book!
