The Geek Who Saved Christmas by Annabeth Albert

5.0

This book is fantastic. I loved every moment from the beginning to the end and read it twice in two months. It put me perfectly in the Christmas spirit.

I have ONE issue with this book. But if you're warned in advance it won't take anything away from the book: Gideon isn't a geek. Or if he is, it doesn't have anything to do with the story or the plot. He's a bit eccentric, kinda dresses like a "geek" (bow ties, glasses)... but he doesn't really display any geeky tendencies until later in the book and those tendencies have nothing to do with the plot at all. That bugged me. If it's the title of your book, I expect it to be part of the plot. But Gideon didn't even REALLY seem like a geek to me at all, until WAY later in the book when he mentions liking board games and some nerdy TV shows etc. And I was a bit disappointed because I was really looking forward to this huge geeky personality. And he isn't that.

BUT Gideon is still a marvellous character and I love him to the ends of the earth. Paul too.

I loved so many things about this book it's too much to list. One of the big ones for me is that both of the men in this book are in their mid-late 30's. I read a lot of age gap romance. I read a lot of 20somethings romance. But rarely do I see something with two people who are both older than 30 getting together. I loved that a lot.

SO... go into this book knowing that you're not getting much geeky content. And enjoy! Because you will. It is adorable and angsty (but not too angsty) and PERFECTLY full of holiday happiness.
