Offspring by Jack Ketchum
5.0
I seriously think Ketchum is now one of my all-time favorites. Yes, this is twisted and gory and horrifying, but that’s what horror is for. Ketchum has an ability to create believable characters that I come to sympathize with, then he rips the carpet out from under me and leaves me empty. I don’t think I’ve had this strong of a reaction to any other writer. This is a strong R rating so don’t act surprised at some very heavy scenes, but this is the perfect example of horror at its best. Easy five stars.
