Sorry, Bro by Taleen Voskuni

5.0

This book was one of my most anticipated releases this year, and it more than met my expectations! Taleen Voskuni is an incredibly gifted storyteller and writer. I frequently reread portions, her metaphors so beautiful I needed to read them again in hopes they might implant themselves in my soul. And the food! I felt like I could taste everything the way she described these delicacies!

This story was funny and heartfelt and steeped in Armenian cultural references. I laughed out loud and cried more than once while reading, and I enjoyed learning about Armenian culture just as much as I enjoyed Nar’s and Erebuni’s story.

Taleen wrote a beautiful story about coming out, connecting with your roots, rediscovering your dreams, figuring out how to embrace every part of who you are, and being able to share your fullest and truest self with the world. I will definitely be reading this again in the future!
