The Sinner by J.R. Ward

1.0

"But don't you remember? We've met before."

A warrior conflicted about his past falls in love with a reporter unaware of her vampire heritage.

At this point, I give up with Ward, and the main protagonists have similar issues to Beth and Wrath. The only thing is Syn isn't royalty, nor is Jo, the daughter of an aristocrat. As the two spend most of the novel being secretive and two of the most boring protagonists, Butch is out in the field being buddy-buddy with the new enemy. A new enemy, released by Thorne, becomes intrigued by Butch and his ability to intake darkness.

The "end" of the Omega was like watching Arya Stark kill the Night King…disappointing. Throughout the novel, Butch worries about facing the Omega, and in comes this new character who takes out the Omega and now the enemy. It's a lazy attempt at a plot twist, and it just isn't good.

The entire novel reads like a copy and paste of Dark Lover. Also, the father of Butch, Manny, and now Jo is ridiculous. The man has taken on the mission to repopulate the entire vampire species. I wonder how many other children this man has just out in the world. It seems that any random person that has a "feeling" about the Brotherhood is related to that man.

In conclusion, this book is just a lazy rewrite with a confusing and unsatisfying ending.
