this was . . . not an enjoyable reading experience. literally found the same punctuation error twice in the span of ten pages and it was all downhill from there. i didn’t find any of these characters likeable, let alone real. nobody speaks like a real person and it boggles my mind. i never knew i could be against purple prose but like this truly is thee definition of bad purple prose and it shows. as a debut it makes sense but it reads like a bad fic and i genuinely wholeheartedly love books written by fic authors!!! this is just not good!!!! also i am not sympathetic toward an army brat idc if she’s a queer black woman 😭
