Meg has escaped from people who were holding her hostage and using her for her prophetic ability. She makes it to a Courtyard that is where non-human creatures live separate from humans. Simon gives her a job and a place to stay where she can't be taken back by the people who were holding her hostage.  Meg makes friends in the Courtyard and they come to her defense. Action ensues and I found it very enjoyable. 

This book was fast-paced and a quick read.  I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series.
