Ever since he saw the Karasuno High School’s star player known as The Little Giant compete at the national volleyball finals, Shoyo Hinata has been dreaming of becoming an elite volleyball player — no matter the limitations of his meagre height.

This first instalment, and the remainder of the series, follows Hinata as he takes on the world of volleyball.

It’s immensely difficult to give any instalment in this series a star rating. In all honesty, this series is just a soft spot of mine so there’s nothing really negative I can say about this.

Overall, ‘Haikyu!!’ is an absolute joy to read so it’s near impossible to quantify my love and fondness for this story in a way that gives it justice.

The relationships between the characters within this series are some of the most heartwarming I’ve ever come across. It was really lovely to dive back into this story and to get to watch the friendships between the various characters begin to blossom and develop.

‘Haikyu!!’s’ cheerfulness is just infectious from beginning to end. The book doesn’t take itself too seriously while managing to create truly compelling characters, dynamics and story arcs.

My nostalgia and overall affection for this series is just next level.
