SJG has been a mixed bag for me with the novels I’ve previously read. The Last Final Girl was odd and okay for me, Mongrels was enjoyable, and I loved The Only Good Indians. 

This collection of short stories had elements of all those and more so it’s easy to see why some stories worked for me while others didn’t. 

My favorite stories were Welcome to the Reptile House, This is Love, The Spindly Man, and Doc's Story. 

Overall, it was a collection worth reading and I’d recommend it to all SGJ fans and anyone looking for an introduction to his work.
