This is the edition made by the National University of Colombia for the 100th anniversary of an iconic novel in Colombian literature. It has the original writing and spelling, in the Spanish standards of the 1920s, which adds to its richness. The subsequent essays are excellent, but after the dramatic force of the narrative, the reader wants only a prolonged time of enjoyment rather than critical analysis. It allows us to rediscover, with the excuse of an anniversary, Riverra's narrative power and beauty of style, even in recounting the cruelty and violence of the Amazonian rubber tappers.
