chloe has such a dry sense of humor that seems to mirror my own the way she is so quick witted and does so many dead-pan jokes that made me cackle. i swear i felt like i was laughing at my own dry jokes. theres so many times in my life where i'll joke and it only lands with the people that know me best and everyone else is just kinda sitting there like 👀 chloe has unseen chronic illnesses and talia hibbert did such a good job representing them.
her familial support system is so so so funny and grandma gigi is everything. there was one line where she goes "i'm so glad you girls all turned out a little weird, your father is so exceptionally boring" (i'm quoting this from memory but it went something like that)
THE. BANTER. IN. THIS. BOOK. IS. EXCEPTIONAL. i was giggling i was hehe-haha ing i was kicking my feet in the air every single time chloe and red spoke.
speaking of red.....his story warmed my cold dead heart. it was very clear that he was no longer the painter or person he once was, that there was a certain part of him that is dead and gone because of thing's he's gone through and he spent so long suffocating he didn't (or couldn't) let himself breathe new life in. then along came chloe.
the conflict at the end of the book just didn't hit right for me, otherwise this would be a strong 5
