The story takes a turn towards the end. It's a turn that makes the world a lot richer, and is in many ways a good preparation for the end of the story. Alas, it also feels like Jeff Smith didn't really know the whole story before he got going, so some things are crammed in at the end. Having a bit of this earlier on would have been great.

Still, a really nice and entertaining volume.
