Terrible Lovely Demon by Odessa Hywell
5.0
First things first- although this is a book that touches on some difficult subjects (childhood cancer, death), it is not a depressing book at all. We get an epic HEA that is really creative and satisfying.
Maxton is a teenager receiving treatment for cancer when he meets Beau, a demon who works as a nurse. Max has a poor prognosis until he and Beau make a deal. Suddenly, Max is healthy again with no trace of cancer. When the two meet again a decade later, Max is no longer a child. Sparks fly as the two get to know each other. But what price has Beau paid for the bargain he made?
I really loved the way the story progressed, and the way Odessa deftly handled such heavy subjects. This book will make you cry and then laugh out loud, all in the same chapter.
